Ohio State Fourth After 36 Holes at William H. Tucker Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Freshman Bo Hoag cards 5-under 67 in first collegiate round as three Buckeyes sit in the Top 20
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State men’s golf team had a strong opening to its 2007-08 season as three Buckeyes stand in the Top 20 and the team is tied for fourth at 4-over 580 after 36 holes at the 53rd Annual William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The event, hosted by the University of New Mexico, is being held at the par 72, 7,350-yard UNM Championship Course.
The Buckeyes, who totaled rounds of 283 and 297, are one stroke behind San Diego State and Colorado tied for second. Pepperdine leads the tournament even at 576. Individually, Jesse Barnsley of Pepperdine leads at 11-under 133 after shooting 66-67.
Freshman Bo Hoag had an outstanding start to his collegiate career, firing an opening round of 5-under 67. After double bogeying his opening hole, No. 6 in the shotgun start, the native of Upper Arlington, Ohio birdied six of the next eight holes. He totaled eight birdies in the round and tied for the second-lowest round of the day. Hoag carded a second round of 74 and is tied for third with a total of 141 (-3). He is one of just nine golfers to sit under par through 36 holes.
Also opening the season with a stellar round was Cleveland, Ohio-native Dan Rush. The junior shot a first round of 69 with six birdies and three bogeys. With a second round of 77, he is tied for 15th at 2-over 146. Just one shot back of Rush is senior Kyle Coconis of Zanesville, Ohio, who recorded rounds of 73-74 to tie for 20th.
Rounding out the Ohio State scoring for the first day of the Tucker Invitational is junior Kevin Grabeman, tied for 61st with 73-79152. Senior Zach Sebert was disqualified in the first round.
The William H. Tucker Invitational will conclude with one round of 18 holes Saturday, with teams teeing off at 9:30 a.m. (MT). Live scoring of the event is available at golfstat.com.
