Former Buckeye Dan Taylor Throws at 2007 IAAF Track and Field World Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dan Taylor, a former NCAA champion thrower at Ohio State from 2000-04, competed for the United States Saturday in the men’s shot put at the 2007 IAAF Track and Field World Championships in Osaka, Japan. Taylor was unable to qualify for the finals, but teammates Reese Hoffa and Adam Nelsom swept the top two spots in the championship round to claim gold and silver medals for the U.S.
Taylor, a nine-time All-America from Middlefield, Ohio, was 17th in his flight in the qualifying round with a toss of 18.45 meters. Taylor has reached as far as 21 meters so far in 2007, winning the Reebok Boston Indoor Games earlier this year with a toss of 21.57m or 70 feet, 9 1/4 inches. In the outdoor season, Taylor was the runner-up in at the U.S. Outdoor Championships. In 2006, Taylor earned a No. 8 world ranking in the shot.
Hoffa claimed the world championship Saturday with a heave of 22.04m, outdistancing Nelson’s mark of 21.67m.
