Men’s Tennis Player Bryan Koniecko Receives U.S. Open Qualifying Wild Card – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State men’s tennis junior Bryan Koniecko was awarded an U.S. Open Qualifying Wild Card the United States Tennis Association announced. Koniecko is one of nine players hoping to earn their way into the 2007 U.S. Open brackets. The qualifying tournament is Aug. 21-24 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., also the home of the U.S. Open, one of four tennis Grand Slams, held Aug. 27-Sept. 9.
In June, the Syosset, N.Y., native was selected to join the USTA Summer Collegiate Team, an elite training program for the top American collegiate tennis players that began in 1996 and is funded by the USTA. It is designed to provide players with valuable exposure to the USTA Pro Circuit in a team-oriented environment during the summer.
The 2007 All-American had an impressive outing at one of the USTA Pro events in July, pairing with Luis Manuel Flores of Mexico to advance to the quarterfinals of the Nielsen USTA Pro Tennis Championship.
