Hayley Klassen, Morgan Marziali Invited to Canada’s Under-22 Team Selection Camp – Ohio State Buckeyes

Two Buckeyes among 40 of Canada’s Under-22 best to compete for roster spots
COLUMBUS, Ohio Hayley Klassen and Morgan Marziali, both juniors-to-be on the Ohio State women’s hockey team, have been invited to attend Canada’s Under-22 Team Selection Camp Aug. 12-19 at York University in Toronto, Ontario. The pair of Buckeyes is among 40 of the nation’s best Under-22 players to compete for a spot on the 22-person roster. They are two of 24 forwards selected to the camp.
Once camp is completed and the final National Women’s Under-22 Team has been named Aug. 19, Canada will face the U.S. National Women’s Under-22 team in a three-game series Aug. 23-26 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Klassen, a native of Warman, Saskatchewan who previously played at the College of Notre Dame, has played in all 73 games in the last two seasons, totaling 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points. In 2006-07, her 10 goals ranked fifth on the Buckeyes and she earned the team’s Most Improved Player award to follow her Most Valuable Freshman award the year before.
Marziali, a former member of the London Devilettes from St. Mary’s, Ontario, had a breakout season in 2006-07, totaling 26 points (14g, 12a) while playing in all 37 games. She also received the team’s Scarlet and Gray award, presented to the most intense competitor. In her career, Marziali has played in 69 games with 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points. This is the second time she has been invited to the Under-22 selection camp.
Along with Klassen and Marziali, four other student-athletes from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association will be attending the camp. Ohio State, Boston University, Connecticut, Harvard, Mercyhurst and Minnesota are the only schools with multiple student-athletes selected.
