Women’s Lacrosse Jessica Patane named the American Lacrosse Conference Co-Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The American Lacrosse Conference has announced that Ohio State’s Jessica Patane (Jr., Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Northwestern’s Kristen Kjellman and have both been named the ALC Co-Player of the Week following action April 16-23, 2007. Both players led their teams to 2-0 records, including a conference win on the week.
Ohio State’s Patane scored the winning goal with one second left in regulation at eighth-ranked Penn State to give Ohio State a 9-8 victory in conference play. She scored a game-high four goals in the game, all coming in the second half. After trailing by three in the first half, Patane gave OSU the lead at 27:29 (6-5) and pushed the lead to two at 24:49 (7-5). After a Penn State goal cut the lead to 7-6, Patane scored at 10:48 to put the lead at two, 8-6. The Nittany Lions rallied to tie the game at eight with 4:24 left. Patane collected a missed Buckeye shot and scored the winning goal with one second left in the game. She also scored three goals in OSU’s 17-4 win at Bucknell for her eighth multi-goal game of the season.
For the season, Patane has a team-high 36 goals and has two assists for 38 points, ranking second on the team.
Ohio State (9-5 overall, 1-2 ALC), ranked in a tie for 17th in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll, closes out the regular season this Friday when they play at top-ranked Northwestern (13-1, 3-0) at 5 p.m. ET.
