Ohio State Men’s Golf Finishes 15th at Schenkel Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team finished in 15th place at the E-Z Go Chris Schenkel Invitational Sunday in a field that included eight Top 25 teams. The Buckeyes shot rounds of 298-302-303 (903) over the two-day, 54-hole event at the Forest Heights Country Club (par 72, 6,962) in Statesboro, Ga.
No. 5 Georgia won the event by six shots over No. 2 Alabama with a score of 854 (287-277-290). Chris Kirk of Georgia won medalist honors after firing off rounds of 70-68-72 for a score of 6-under 210.
Ohio State senior Jared Jones (Kenova, W.Va./Spring Valley) led the Buckeyes and had his best tournament total of the season after shooting rounds of 73-75-76 (224) and tied for 38th place.
Senior Colin Biles (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) tied for 47th with a 226 total (76-79-71). The 1-under final round for Biles was the sixth time this season he recorded a round of par or better.
Senior Jack Tyler (Novi, Mich./George Washington) shot a tournament total 229 (75-75-79) and tied for 65th.
Freshman Patrick Simard (Marbella, Spain/I.E.S. Ortega & Gasset) finished tied for 70th after rounds of 74-79-77 (230).
Senior David Vallina (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown) shot rounds of 78-73-80 (231) and tied for 73rd place.
The Buckeyes return to action April 7-8 at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
