Buckeyes Finish Season Opener 8th at Gopher Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State men’s golf team placed eighth at the Gopher Invitational Sunday. The Buckeyes shot 916 (303-307-306) over the two-day, 54-hole event at the Spring Hill Golf Club (par 72, 7,020 yds.) in Wayzata, Minn.

Stanford pulled away over the final 18 holes Sunday to outlast host Minnesota and Southern Methodist. The Cardinal shot 889 to take the title away from the Gophers (894), who led after 36 holes. SMU finished third at 896. The Mustangs’ Colt Knost and Zack Miller of Stanford tied for medalist honors. Each shot 214.

Ohio State senior Jack Tyler (Novi, Mich./George Washington) led the Buckeyes tied for 17th individually. He shot rounds of 76-78-72.

The Buckeyes return to action Oct. 8-9 at the Coca Cola Duke Golf Classic in Durham, N.C.
