Former Buckeye Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-David Vallina, a senior on the 2006 Ohio State men’s golf team, shot 74-69=143 (-1) at the par 72, 7,004-yard Sawickley Heights Golf Club Monday at U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying in Sewickley Pa. He earned medalist honors to become one of two sectional qualifiers from the 45-player field.
There were 25 sectional qualifying tournaments held across the country.
Vallina, a Burgettstown, Pa., native, advances to the 106th U.S. Amateur Championship Aug. 21-27 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club (par 72, 7,196 yds.) in Chaska, Minn.
Practice rounds will be held Aug. 18-19. Vallina will play 18 holes Aug. 21 and 22. Match play competitions will be held Aug. 23-27.
