Biles Completes Day One at NCAA Men’s Golf Central Regional – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio State junior Colin Biles (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) shot even par (71) in round one of the 2006 Men’s Golf NCAA Central Regional in Chardon, Ohio, Thursday. The competition is being played at the Sand Ridge Golf Club (7,173 yds.). Cleveland State University is the host school for the tournament.
Biles, competing as an individual, is tied for 17th of 141 student athletes competing at the event. He started strong with a birdie on the par 4 No. 10 hole (401 yds.) and finished his first nine 1 over. He started his back nine with another birdie on the par 4 No. 1 (401 yds.). He shot 1-under 35 over his final nine holes of the day after recording a birdie on his final hole of the day, the par 4, 406-yard ninth hole.
The top 10 teams and two individuals not attached to one of those teams will advance to compete in the NCAA championships May 31 through June 3 at Crosswater Golf Club at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
Biles, a second team All-Big Ten selection, is scheduled to tee off hole No. 1 at 8:53 a.m. Friday in the second of three rounds in the regional competition.
Oklahoma is the team leader after round one at 4-under 280. Northwestern’s Chris Wilson is the individual leader after the first 18 holes at -4 (67).
