Since 2000, the Ohio State softball program owns an overall record of 260-146 (.640), which ranks as the third-best record and winning percentage in the Big Ten during that period. The Buckeyes have made three trips to the NCAA tournament this decade (2002, 2004, 2006) and have seven national tournament berths in their history (1978, 1979, 1982, 1990, 2002, 2004, 2006).
Head coach Linda Kalafatis will be in her 11th season as head coach in 2007 and has guided Ohio State to 30 or more wins five times. Her 2002 squad set 21 school records en route to 55 wins. That season senior centerfielder Anna Smith became Ohio State’s first first-team All-American and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and Kalafatis was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year.
