Women’s Volleyball Marisa Main and Danielle Meyer Named to the 2006 AVCA All-American Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Women’s volleyball setter Marisa Main (Sr., Louisville, Ky.) and middle block Danielle Meyer (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio) have been named to the 2006 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American Team. Main was a second team selection and Meyer at third team selection. The selections were made by a panel of coaches.
Main has earned AVCA second team All-American honors for three the last three years. She is a three-time All-Big Ten and AVCA Mideast All-Region selection. Main averaged 12.85 assists per game on the season. She averaged 1.54 kills, 2.29 digs and .43 blocks per game while hitting a team-high .354. Main was an Academic All Big Ten selection.
Meyer was an AVCA third-team All-American selection in 2005 and a Mideast All-Region selection. She is a two-time All-Big Ten selection. Meyer was the team leader in points per game with a 5.02 average. She averaged 4.26 kills, 1.96 digs and .85 blocks per game while hitting .301. Meyer was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American second team and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Ohio State finished the season with a 25-8 overall record and was 13-7 in the Big Ten finishing fourth. The Buckeyes advanced to the Seattle Regional Semifinal, when they lost, 0-3, to host and defending national champion Washington.
