The company also provides students with alternative recreational activities to enhance their life skills.
Now in its second year, the ViaQuest golf program provided a total of 432 hours of golf instruction to 36 adolescents in its inaugural year.
“In addition to representing The Ohio State University, we stress the importance of our athletes reflecting good citizenship within the community,” Hellman said. “We’re proud to participate in an event that brings the enjoyment of golf to these special young men and women.”
The ViaQuest Foundation Golf and Life Skills Program teaches special needs youth about the game of golf, golf etiquette, integrity and self-esteem. PGA professional and director of the ViaQuest Foundation’s golf program, Derek Kinzer, said that through golf his program teaches social skills, problem solving and general life lessons.
