COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior men’s golfer Scott Anderson (Great Falls, Mont.) was selected as a member of the Ping Midwest All-Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Anderson represented the Buckeyes at the NCAA Central Regional in South Bend, Ind., and narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA championships as an individual. He shot 211 (70-69-72) to finish tied for ninth in the regional event, his fifth Top 10 finish of his final season as a Buckeye.
As a senior, Anderson competed in a team-high 34 rounds and led the Buckeyes with a low scoring average of 72.4 strokes per round.
He also was recently selected by the Big Ten Conference as Ohio State’s sportsmanship award recipient for men’s golf.
The student-athletes chosen by the league office are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
By making the Ping All-Midwest Region team, Anderson becomes eligible for Ping All-America honors.
Anderson also was selected to the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars list.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and have competed in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participated in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
