Ohio State Men’s Gymnastics Compete in Scarlet and Gray Intrasquad – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team competed in the Scarlet and Gray Intrasquad competition Friday in St. John Arena. The Scarlet and Gray teams performed on all six events and the Scarlet team outscored the Gray team 151.55-142.35. This marks Scarlet’s third-consecutive win over Gray. Last year Scarlet defeated Gray with a score of 163.45-158.90.
Junior Willie Ito (Huntington Beach, Calif./South Coast Gym) tallied the highest score of the competition earning a 9.6 on parallel bars and DJ Bucher (So., Mason, Ohio/Queen City Gymnastics) scored well on parallel bars with a 9.5. Freshman Eddie Hay (Butler, Pa./ Butler Gymnastics) earned a 9.455 on the floor exercise.
“Willie Ito is inching closer towards being ready,” head coach Miles Avery said. “Eddie Hay and Jake Bateman are really shining and looking like they are going to help us this year with Willie (Ito) and DJ Bucher.”
“Today was rough for some people,” Hay said. “We need to get back in the gym and work on our routines before we leave for the Windy City Invitational (Jan. 14, 2005).”
The Buckeyes continue to prepare for their season opener on Jan. 14 at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, in the Varsity Exhibition, the last of three scrimmages, at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at St. John Arena.
