Buckeye Rowing First Varsity Eight Receives Second Consecutive Big Ten Honor – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference named the Ohio State rowing first varsity eight Big Ten Boat of the Week Monday. The first-ranked boat earned the award for defeating No. 4 Michigan on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
The first varsity eight posted its third victory of the season as it finished the race in 6:30.71, 7.14 seconds ahead of the Wolverine boat. Members of the winning boat were Susi Wesenberg (Sr., Rostock, Germany), Ellen Maas (Fr., Amsterdam, the Netherlands), Amanda Purcell (Jr., Hilliard, Ohio), Ninett Kossowsky (So., Leipzig, Germany), Wilma Dressel (Fr., Dortmund, Germany), Anna Fago (Fr., Giessen, Germany), Diana Albrecht (Jr., Dresden, Germany), Tatiana Grigorieva (Sr., Moscow, Russia) and coxswain Ashley Orr (Sr., Dublin, Ohio).
The award marks the second consecutive week the Buckeyes have been honored as Big Ten Boat of the Week. The then-No. 9 Buckeyes earned the accolade for upsetting then-No. 1 Brown and then-No. 3 Princeton March 27.
No. 1 Ohio State will face No. 8 Virginia and No. 18 Duke in the ACC/Big Ten Double Duals Saturday at 9 a.m. on Lake Monticello in Charlottesville, Va.
