COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 18th-ranked Ohio State (3-5 overall) women’s lacrosse team lost, 14-4, to No. 8 Maryland (8-2) Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C. at the Aeropostale Women’s Lacrosse Challenge. The Buckeye goals were scored by Ashley Evans (Jr., Ellicott City, Md.), Kelyn Laws (Fr., Ellicott City, Md.), Andrea Fischer (So., Cleveland Heights, Ohio) and KC Carter (So., Birchrunville, Pa.). Kelly Coppedge had five goals for Maryland with Delia Cox adding three and Jessica Dorney, two.
Maryland built up a 6-1 lead in the first half with OSU’s Evans scoring with 1:05 left in the half. The Buckeyes were out scored 8-3 in the second half with Buckeye goals coming from Laws, Fischer and Carter. In goal for Ohio State, Kim Hastings (So., Sewickley, Pa.) played the first half making eight saves while giving up six goals in the loss. Taryn Bowen (Sr., Columbus, Ohio) was in goal for the second half making three saves while giving up eight goals. Maryland’s Kirah Miles took the win while making six saves.
Ohio State will travel to Virginia Tech for a 4 p.m. game on Friday, April 2 before returning home for a 1 p.m., Sunday, April 4 game against Davidson.
