Ohio State Advances to National College Cheerleading Competition – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State cheerleaders will travel to Walt Disney World, Jan. 14-17, to compete for the 2005 College Cheerleading National Championship. Ohio State recently won the Northeast Region competition to qualify for the national competition for the 16th time in the last 18 years.
By winning their region, the Buckeyes received an automatic bid to the national competition, as well as free transportation and hotel accommodations.
Ohio State finished 15th in the nation at the competition last season after placing seventh in 2003 and sixth in 2002. The Buckeyes earned a second-place finish in 2001 and placed sixth in 2000. Ohio State won the 1993 College Cheerleading National Championship.
The national competition will be televised by ESPN and aired at a later date.
