COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 18th-ranked Ohio State (2-1) women’s lacrosse team had seven student-athletes score goals in an 11-2 victory over Lafayette (0-4) Sunday afternoon at Lafayette’s Rappolt Field. OSU’s Regina Oliver (So., Pottstown, Pa.) scored a team-high three goals for the Buckeyes. Alexia Vogler (Sr., Ellicott City, Md.) and KC Carter (Fr., Birchrunville, Pa.) contributed two goals each while Ashley Evans (So., Ellicott City, Md.), Shannon Wilson (Sr., Sherkston, Ontario), Caroline Weatherill (Jr., Malvern, Pa.) and Melissa Sands (So., Fallston, Md.) added a goal each. Ohio State held a 5-0 lead at halftime and out scored the Leopards, 6-2, in the second half in the 11-2 win. Lafayette’s Jennifer Stone and Kim Maron provided the scoring for the Leopards. OSU’s Erin Forquer (So., Shaker Heights, Ohio) recorded six saves in goal while Lafayette’s Tracey Williams had 17.
Ohio State will host two matches this week in the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes will open its second season of league play in the American Lacrosse Conference at 7 p.m., Friday, March 14 against 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins. OSU then faces non-conference foe Virginia Tech at 1 p.m., Sun., March 16.
