No. 3 Men’s Gymnastics Drop to No. 1 Oklahoma – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team fell to No.1 Oklahoma and defeated Stanford Friday at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. The Sooners outscored the Buckeyes and the Cardinals with a season and national-high 222.50. Ohio State posted a 218.15 and Stanford placed third with 211.025 points. Raj Bhavsar (Sr., Houston, Texas), who did not compete on high bar, placed third in the all-around with a 45.45. Ohio State, who was defeated by Penn State Feb. 22, has lost two-consecutive meets and is 9-2 (5-1 Big Ten) on the season, while Oklahoma remains undefeated at 11-0 and Stanford falls to 4-4.
As a team, Ohio State topped Oklahoma on floor, 36.25 to 35.55, but placed second in the other five events. The Buckeyes posted a season-high on rings with a 37.30. Stanford placed third in every event.
Kerry Adderly (So., Orlando, Fla.) took first place on floor with a 9.35 and Randy Monahan (So., Elizabethtown, Pa.) placed second with a 9.200. On vault, Monahan posted a 9.400 and placed first. Matthew Smith (Sr., Salt Lake City, Utah), a rings specialist, scored a career-high 9.500 but placed fifth in his event.
The Buckeyes will continue on to Minneapolis, Minn., to meet No. 12 Minnesota at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Sports Arena. Ohio State will return home to St. John Arena for senior night and the last dual meet of the season when they play host to Michigan at 7 p.m. March 15.
