Eight Remain On The Road To Crew Stadium – Ohio State Buckeyes

(Columbus) – Quarterfinal action will take place today and tomorrow in the 2003 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship with the winners advancing to the 2003 NCAA Men’s College Cup at Columbus Crew Stadium next weekend.
In today’s lone game, defending champion and the No. 1-seeded UCLA Bruins will take on the fifth-seeded Indiana Hoosiers at 7:30 p.m. at UCLA’s Drake Stadium. Indiana head coach Jerry Yeagley; the all-time NCAA men’s soccer wins leader will try to pull off the upset, continuing the Hoosiers march towards Columbus.
Standing in his path will be UCLA head coach Tom Fitzgerald who’s looking to come home where he coached the Columbus Crew from 1996-2001. The winner will advance to Columbus and face the winner of Michigan versus Santa Clara.
The rest of the quarterfinal action takes place tomorrow as 12th-seeded Michigan takes on Santa Clara at 7 p.m., Creighton squares off with sixth-seeded St. John’s (NY) at 7:30 p.m. and seventh-seeded St. Louis faces second-seeded Maryland at 1 p.m.
Rain and snow is expected to be a factor in New York and Maryland but clear skies are currently forecasted for Santa Clara.
The 2003 NCAA Men’s College Cup semifinals will be on Friday, December 12 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with the championship match on Sunday, Dec.14 at 2 p.m. at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH.
