COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (6-6-2, 1-6-1) fell 1-0 for the second time in as many outings, this time to No. 11 Maryland (10-3-1, 4-3-1) Saturday at Ludwig Field in College Park.

The Buckeyes dropped a hard-fought 1-0 defensive battle to No. 4 Indiana earlier in the week.

Maryland scored the lone goal of the match when Albi Ndrenika blasted one past Ohio State keeper Patrick McLaughlin in the 54'. The shot came from the top right of the 18' box to the lower left corner of the net.
McLaughlin got the start for the Buckeyes in goal. He is 11-8-4 in 23 career starts. He set a career high with nine saves against the Terps.
In the 31' Ohio State senior Isaiah Chisolm checked in for the first time since last playing against Northern Kentucky Sept. 3. He recorded a hat trick in the 5-0 win over the Norse before missing time since with injury.
The match had somewhat of a playoff feel with each team working toward finishing among the Top 6 in the 2026 Big Ten standings in order to qualify for the 2026 Big Ten Tournament. The Terrapins entered the match in the No. 6 spot with Ohio State holding down the No. 9 spot.
Maryland remains in the hunt for a Big Ten tournament appearance with the win. Ohio State was eliminated.
The Buckeyes return to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium next Friday to face Northwestern on Senior Night in Columbus.
