Nwankwo Added to Men’s Basketball Roster – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Ugo Nwankwo, a junior from Ann Arbor, Mich., was added to the men’s basketball roster Thursday, Jim O’Brien, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced.
Nwankwo will be in his second season as a walk-on member of the squad.
The 6-2, 185-pound guard was invited to join the team following tryouts each of the last two years. He began practicing with the team earlier this week.
“We’re happy, once again, to invite Ugo Nwankwo (OO-go WAN-kwo) to be a member of our team,” O’Brien said. “He is a wonderful young man, a quality student, a terrific teammate and a person who brings a lot of enthusiasm to our team.”
Nwankwo, a graduate of Ann Arbor’s Pioneer High School, appeared in one game last season for the Buckeyes. His brother Ije is a freshman men’s basketball player at Purdue.
Ohio State opens the 2003-04 exhibition season at 8 p.m. Nov. 7 at Value City Arena against Coaches vs. Cancer. The regular season begins Nov. 21 at San Francisco. Ohio State then travels to Maui, Hawaii, for the Maui Invitational Nov. 24-26.
The home opener is Dec. 3 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against Georgia Tech.
