Men’s Golf Concludes Competition At Sooner Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State men’s golf team concluded competition at the Sooner Invitational on Tuesday. The inaugural invitational was held at the par-72, 7,021-yard Westin Stonebriar Resort in Frisco, Texas.
On the first day of competition the Buckeyes fired a first round score of 293. They returned in the afternoon to post a score of 289 placing them ninth overall with one round to go. Today, during the final round of competition, the Buckeyes shot their lowest score of the tournament-286.
Texas Christian University who held the lead after two rounds of play, never looked back and won the Sooner Invitational with rounds of 279-273-288 for a total of 839.
The real story of the day came from Zach Doran (Jr., Dublin, Ohio) who tied the course record with a 65 set on Monday by TCU’s Adam Robinson and Oklahoma’s John Kidwell. Doran began the day tied for 15th and finished tied for second place with a final round score of 206. Kidwell won the tournament by posting, a final round score of 68, barely escaping Doran, who finished one stroke behind.
The Buckeyes will return to action September 28-29 at the Northern Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. site of the 2003 Big Ten Championships.
