Volleyball Adds Jamie Holmes As Assistant Coach – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jamie Holmes has been named assistant women’s volleyball coach at The Ohio State University, Head Coach Jim Stone announced Monday. Holmes joins the Buckeye staff after serving as an assistant coach with Southwest Missouri State for the last five seasons.
Holmes served as head coach at Evangel University, an NAIA school in Springfield, Mo., in 1996 and guided the Crusaders to a 20-20 overall record and third-place conference finish.
Holmes has coached in the Club Bear and Springfield Junior club programs since 1994. She also served as head coach of the men’s varsity club team at Bethany University in Santa Cruz, Calif., in 1993-94 and coached the Club Sacramento girls team from 1990-92.
A 1994 summa cum laude graduate of Bethany University, Holmes was a third team NAIA All-America selection as a senior. A middle blocker, Holmes led the nation in kills per game and hitting percentage in 1993 when she averaged over five kills per game and hit nearly .450. She also set numerous school records.
Holmes transferred to Bethany after three years at Cal State-Sacramento, where she helped the Hornets to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 1989 and 1990 before the program was elevated to Division I in 1991.
A native of Citrus Heights, Calif., Holmes is nearing completition of her Master of Divinity from the Assembly of God Theological Seminary in Springfield. She is a member of USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
