Buckeyes Named to U.S. Men’s Senior National Gymnastics Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Buckeye Blaine Wilson finished second in the all-around at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships Friday in Cleveland, earning a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team. Buckeye senior Raj Bhavsar (Houston, Texas), who was unable to compete at the championships because of shoulder surgery, was one of four gymnasts named to the national team by the men’s program committee.
Buckeye sophomores Kerry Adderly (Orlando, Fla.) and Randy Monahan (Elizabethtown, Pa.) also competed at the event, finishing 16th and 19th, respectively.
Wilson ended the meet with a combined score of 112.000, finishing behind Paul Hamm (114.375). In the finals, Wilson scored a 56.325 in the all-around, including a 9.925 on rings and a 9.90 on high bar.
Adderly posted a score of 51.025 in the final round, improving on his score from the preliminaries, and ended with a total of 102.025. Monahan, with a score of 50.250 in the finals, ended the meet with a score of 101.525.
Next up for Wilson and Miles Avery, OSU head coach, is a dual meet with China in Beijing Aug. 19th. Avery will serve as the head coach for the U.S. squad in the meet.
