No. 20 Women’s Lacrosse Edges Delaware, 12-11, To Remain Undefeated – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$The Ohio State (6-0, 1-0 American Lacrosse Conference) women’s lacrosse squad defeated Delaware (2-4), 12-11, with a Tracey Bounds (Jr., Ellicott City, Md.) goal with 3:14 left in the game in a match played at Notre Dame. Bounds had a team-high four goals in the game with Alexia Vogler (Jr., Ellicott City, Md.) adding three and Megan Mirick (Sr., Burke, Va.) two. Corinne Shuck (Sr., Annapolis, Md.) scored a game-high six goals for Delaware with Michelle Campolettano (So., Massapequa Park, N.Y.) adding four.%^$
%^$Ohio State opened the game with three goals. Bounds scored on an assist from Regina Oliver (Fr., Pottstown, Pa.) at 2:16. Goals by Bounds (6:00) and Mirick (7:10) followed. Delaware’s Shuck score her first goal at 8:40. OSU pushed the lead to 5-1 with a Vogler goal at 12:15 and a Kylee Reade (Sr., London, Ontario) goal, assisted by Vogler, at 12:34. Shuck countered with a score at 17:07 to make it 5-2. Ohio State made it 8-2 with goals by Vogler (Bounds) at 20:38, Bounds (Mirick) at 26:12 and Lauren Cochran (So., Coatesville, Pa.) (Vogler) at 3:16. Delaware rallied with Shuck’s third goal, assisted by Erin Edell (Fr., Glenelg, Md.), at 27:18 and a Nikki Kurcharski (Jr., Englewood, Colo.) score, assisted by Becky Rausa (Fr., Forest Hill, Md.), at 28:59 to make it, 8-4, Ohio State at halftime.%^$
%^$Delaware started the scoring in the second half with four straight goals to tie the game at eight. Shuck tallied the first three goals of the half at 33:12, 27:14 and 37:49. Campolettano’s goal at 40:27 tied the game. Mirick’s second goal of the game gave OSU a 9-8 lead at 41:06. Campolettano tied the game at nine with a score at 47:42 and gave Delaware a 10-9 lead at 52:07. Oliver’s goal, assisted by Bounds, tied the game at 10 at the 52:31 mark. Vogler’s goal at 54:00 returned the lead to Ohio State at 11-10. Delaware’s Campolettano, scoring her fourth goal of the game, tied the game at 55:53. OSU’s winning goal, by Bounds, came at 56:46 to complete the scoring.%^$
%^$OSU’s Erin Forquer (Fr., Shaker Height, Ohio) had nine saves in the game while Laurie Tortorelli (Sr., Havertown, Pa.) recorded 22 saves for Delaware.%^$
%^$Ohio State continues on the road next weekend with a neutral site match against third-ranked North Carolina (5-2) at 5 p.m., Friday, March 29. The match will be played at the University of Maryland. The Buckeyes then face seventh-ranked Maryland (2-3), at Maryland, at 11 a.m., Sunday, March 31.
