Ohio State’s Raj Bhavsar Crowned Big Ten Gymnast of The Year – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio–Ohio State junior Raj Bhavsar was named the 2002 Big Ten Male Gymnast of the Year and won two individual titles, floor exercise (9.4875) and pommel horse (9.400). Buckeye head coach Miles Avery was named the 2002 Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
The individual titles earned by Bhavsar this weekend (all-around, pommel horse, floor exercise and Big Ten Gymnast of the Year) are the first of his career.
Bhavsar also was named to the 2002 All-Big Ten team along with Minnesota’s Guillermo Alvarez, Eric Steele and Clay Strother, Michigan’s Justin Toman, Jamie Hertza and Daniel Diaz-Luong, and Penn State’s Kevin Donohue and Kevin Tan.
The Buckeyes will return to action April 4-6 as they will travel to Norman, Okla., to defend their NCAA Championship against the nation’s best.
