Volleyball Defeats Loyola (Ill.) In Adidas Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 17th-ranked Ohio State (5-0) women’s volleyball squad stayed undefeated with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-24, 30-26) victory over host Loyola (Ill.) (1-4) in the first round of the Adidas Invitational in Chicago, Ill. Anne Botica (Sr., Windsor, Ontario) and Stacey Gordon (Fr., Oshawa, Ontario) shared match-high kill honors with 13 each. Suzie Stiling (Jr., Glenview, Ill.) added 12 kills in the one hour and 18 minute match. Rambler Janelle Hart had a team-high eight kills for Loyola.
Ohio State hit .321 for the match to .025 for Loyola. The Buckeyes had a 49-30 advantage in kills. OSU collected 53 digs to 35 for Loyola with OSU’s Botica recording 12 and Gordon 11. Each squad had seven total blocks with Buckeye Erin Baker (Sr., Elmhurst, Ill) recording a match-high four blocks with one solo and three assists. Loyola had a seven to five margin in ace serves with Sarah Poglits and Heather Thomas scoring two each. OSU’s Shelly Draeger (Jr., Milwaukee, Wis.) had a match-high four aces.
The Buckeyes continue play in the Invitational with a noon (CT) match against South Florida and will face Evansville at 5 p.m.
