COLUMBUS, Ohio-Clemson University leads after the first round of the 2001 Ping/Golfweek Preview after firing a score of 288 at The Ohio State University Scarlet Course, site of the 2002 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.
Ohio State finished the first day in the No. 12 position after a first round score of 300.
Jason Hartwick of Texas, Brent Wanner of Wake Forest and Cody Freeman of Oklahoma are the first round leaders, each firing a 2-under par 69.
Senior Doug Wade led the Buckeyes with a 74, which puts him in a tie for 28th.
The tournament continues Saturday with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. The 54-hole event concludes Sunday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
The 2001 Ping/Preview is comprised of the top teams from the 2001 NCAA Championship Tournament.
