Three Buckeyes On Preseason All-Big Ten Volleyball Squad – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$Three Ohio State women’s volleyball student-athletes have been named to the 2001 Preseason All-Big Ten Volleyball Team. In voting by the head coaches, OSU placed Anne Botica (Sr., Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph High School), Suzie Stiling (Jr., Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South High School) and Katie Virtue (Jr., St. Charles, Ill./St. Francis (Wheaton) High School) on the 12-player team. Virtue makes her second-consecutive appearance on the squad after being the 1999 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a member of the 2000 All-Big Ten Team. Stiling was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten pick last season. The Buckeyes lead the league with three selectees on this year’s preseason squad. Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin each had two selections.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes, by a vote of the Big Ten head coaches, are ranked third in the preseason poll behind No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Wisconsin. Ohio State returns four starters (Botica, Stiling, Virtue and Shelly Draeger (Jr., Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) from last year’s squad that finished fourth in the Big Ten Conference with a 14-6 mark. OSU was 26-7 overall, finishing 15th in the final national poll, making its 12-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship.%^$
