OSU Sets Records After Day One Of Marshall Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes finished with a strong lead after two rounds in the first day of competition at the Marshall Invitational at the Guyan Golf and Country Club (6,456 yards, par 71) in Huntington, W.Va. Ohio State recorded a team score of 558 for the lead and to break the 32-year-old tournament record. OSU received a tremendous team effort in the second round to record a tournament low second round of 275 surpassing the old record of 279 that OSU set in 1995. OSU has a team lead of eight strokes over second-place Toledo heading into the third round.
Mike Austin (Sr., Burton, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic) also had a record-setting performance breaking the previous individual 36-hole low set by Northwestern’s Scott Rowe in `97 with a two-round total of 134. Austin currently leads in the individual standings by three strokes. Louisville’s Chris Campbell and Toledo’s Brad Heaven are close behind at 137.
Jason Oien (Jr., New Albany/Westerville North) and Kevin Hall (Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio/St.Rita) are tied for the 10th position with a two-round total of 142. Ryan Dennis (Jr., Stow, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) is tied for 30th, shooting 78-67=145. Justin Collins (So., Ironton, Ohio/Ironton) is tied for 54th place with a two-round total of 149.
The third and final round of competition is tomorrow beginning at 7:30 a.m.
