Ohio State Wins Second Qualifying Session at NCAA Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State came back from behind to beat out Michigan for the top spot in Session II of the NCAA National Qualifiers Thursday night at St. John Arena. The Wolverines were leading the scoring until the final rotation, until a strong rings rotation pulled the Buckeyes into the lead. Ohio State took the session with a score of 217.075, their third highest total of the season. Michigan finished with 216.850 points and Michigan State placed third with a score of 213.350. The Spartans managed to hold off a charging Minnesota team in the final rotation to qualify for the team championships Friday.%^$
%^$Raj Bhavsar (So., Houston, Texas) led the Buckeyes in almost every event, winning the all-around title with a score of 55.325, by far his highest total of the season. Bhavsar took first on parallel bars, scoring 9.375 and placed second on floor (9.200), third on high bar (9.050) and tied for fourth on vault with a score of 9.300.%^$
%^$”I’m doing exactly what I intended to do,” Bhavsar said. “I walked into this arena and told myself I would hit every event, no matter what. I wanted to do my gymnastics and just let them speak for themselves. How I start off a weekend usually remains constant. It’s just a pattern I’ve noticed. How I start is how I continue, so I feel pretty good about things right now.”%^$
%^$Daren Lynch (Sr., Hockessin, Del.) won the rings event with a score of 9.650.%^$
%^$Ohio State advances to the team finals Friday at 7 p.m. at St. John Arena. The individual preliminaries and all-around finals also will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Saturday, the individual event finals will be at 7 p.m.%^$
