Rowing Finishes Second at Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State women’s rowing team finished second at the Big Ten Conference Championships held Saturday on Belleville Lake, the home lake of the University of Michigan, host of the championships.
The Buckeyes finished with 43 points, 13 behind Michigan, who won its second-consecutive conference crown. Michigan State finished third (36) followed by Wisconsin (36), Iowa (32), Minnesota (18) and Indiana (16). Michigan State was awarded third based on its higher first varsity eight finish.
In the morning heats, Ohio State won Heat 2 of the first varsity eight race with a time of 6 minutes, 25 seconds. The Buckeyes advanced to the afternoon finals but finished second to the Wolverines. Michigan won the race with a time of 6:18.10 followed by Ohio State (6:21.03), Michigan State (6:24.58) and Iowa (6:27.03).
Michigan was the winner in the second varsity eight final as well. The Buckeyes finished with a time of 6:36.85 behind Michigan (6:29.40).
In the first varsity four race, Michigan was the winner (7:12.65) followed by Iowa (7:14.97) and Ohio State (7:19.16).
The Buckeyes will next compete at the Central Regionals May 12-13 in Oak Ridge Tenn.
