COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team (7-7) fell to the 18th ranked Fighting Irish, 18-12, Wednesday at Moose Krause Stadium.
Notre Dame pulled away with a big first half scoring 12 goals to Ohio State’s three. The slow first half proved to be costly to the Buckeyes only scoring three first half goals. OSU fell behind 2-0 before Erin Andersen (Sr., Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) notched her first of three goals on the day. OSU went into the break trailing Notre Dame, 12-3.
The second half, the Buckeyes came out firing with Tracey Bounds (So., Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) netting two consecutive goals for OSU. Notre Dame then went on a four-goal run to halt the Buckeyes momentum.
Captain Celeste Cianfrani (Sr., Telford, Pa./Souderton) moved herself into the No. 1 spot for OSU career points leader. She needed two points to surpass Mara Simpson’s record of 133 points. Cianfrani ended the day with three points (136), on one goal and two assists.
