Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Vanderbilt, 10-9 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team (7-6) dropped a nailbiter to Vanderbilt, 10-9, Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. This marked the last home game for the Buckeyes this season.
In the first half, Vanderbilt drew first blood with Amanda Rice tallying her only goal on the day at 26:07. OSU, just one minute and 52 seconds later, tied up at 1-1 with Lauren Cochran (Jr. Coatesville, Pa/Coatesville) netting her only goal for the contest. Vandy scored five unanswered goals to go into the break with a 7-3 lead over the Buckeyes.
Vanderbilt made it six consecutive unanswered goals when Jessica Roguski notched her first of two goals on the day. Megan Mirick’s (Jr. Burke, Va/Robinson) goal at 20:23 started the Buckeyes five goal run. OSU’s run tied it up 9-9 with Erin Andersen (Sr. Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) striking her fourth and final goal for the Buckeyes. With 30 seconds left in the game Vanderbilt’s Jeannie Crawley put the Buckeyes away by netting the game-winning goal for the Commodore’s.
The Buckeyes finish their season on the road April 25 at Notre Dame and on April 28 against Penn State.
