Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No.7 North Carolina, 18-6 – Ohio State Buckeyes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team (5-2 overall) fell to North Carolina(18-6) at Penn State’s Bigler Field. The Tar Heels (6-3 overall), were led by Erin McInnes’ four goals and 2 assists, and three goals each from Amy Havrilla and Christine McPike
North Carolina regrouped and jumped out to a 4-0 lead, causing OSU to call a timout at the 51:39 mark. The Buckeyes responded quickly as Megan Mirick (Jr., Burke, Va./ Robinson) scored a goal passed by Lauren Cochran (Jr., Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville). The Tar Heels wasted no time and shot off five goals before Ohio State was able to score once again at before halftime, making it 9-2 at the break.
Ohio State tried to push ahead of the Tar Heels with goals scored by Erin Anderson (Sr. Huntington, N.Y./Huntington), Megan Mirick and Amy Tulk (Fr., West Chester, Pa./West Chester East). Despite their efforts Ohio State was unable to keep up with North Carolinas’ nine-goal barragethe second half, with the Tar Heels winning 18-6.
The Buckeyes return to action Sunday April 1, when they take on Maryland at Penn State. The game begins at 2 p.m.
