The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season Sunday as it fell to the No. 7 Terriers of Boston University, 14-6, in Philadelphia at the campus of St. Joseph’s University. With the loss the Buckeyes are 2-, Boston improves to 3-1 overall.
Boston opened the game scoring early and often as the Terriers tallied the first five goals of the game. The Buckeyes fought back, scoring five of the next eight goals to trail 8-5. In that span Amy Tulk (Fr., West Chester, Pa.) tallied twice and Erin Andersen (Sr., Huntington, N.Y.), Tracey Bounds (So., Ellicott City, Md.) and Megan Mirick (Jr., Burke, Va.) each scored once. When the Buckeyes were easing their way back into the match, the Terriers exploded for six unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. BU was led by Chrissy Lombard. The senior scored six goals in the match, four of which were consecutive, and was one of the deciding factors. Andersen recorded OSU’s final and last goal of the game with 1:31 left in the contest.
OSU returns to action March 21, when the Buckeyes travel to Monmouth for a 3:30 showdown.
