Johnson Earns Big Ten Player of the Week Honors – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Ken Johnson (6-11, Sr., Detroit, Mich./Henry Ford) established a new Big Ten record for career blocked shots while also becoming the 39th player in Ohio State history to score 1,000 points in leading the Buckeyes to a pair of wins against Illinois and Northwestern, extending OSU’s current conference winning-streak to six games.
With six rejections at Northwestern, Johnson raised his career total to 434, surpassing the former record of 428 blocked shots set by Penn State’s Calvin Booth from 1995-99. The OSU senior currently ranks fifth in NCAA history, only four swats away from fourth place.
Johnson shot 64 percent from the field (7-11) in Ohio State’s upset of Illinois, scoring 16 points to crack the 1,000-point barrier. He added 11 points at Northwestern to up his career total to 1,012 points.
For the weekend, the 6-11 center shot 63 percent from the floor (12-19) to average 13.5 points per game, while adding 11 boards and eight blocked shots.
