COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team will participate in its 13th-consecutive NCAA Championship hosting first and second round matches this weekend. OSU (25-3) will face Robert Morris (29-5) Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Cincinnati (22-7) will play Xavier (25-5) in the other first-round match at 5 p.m. The Friday winners return at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1. That winner will advance to regional play at a site to be determined.
Ohio State was one of 16 squads seeded in the bracket. The Buckeyes received the 13th seed.
Tickets for the matches will be available at The Ohio State Athletics Ticket Office in The Jerome Schottenstein Center starting Tuesday. An all-session public ticket is $12.00. A student all-session ticket is $8.00. All-session tickets are only available through Thursday. One-day tickets are available at $8.00 for the public and $5.00 for students. Tickets may be purchased by calling 1-800-GO-BUCKS.
Ohio State is making its 13th-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship and enjoys a 16-12 record in the tournament. OSU has advanced to regional play eight times and twice reached the NCAA National Semifinals (1991 and 1994). Last year Ohio State, in matches played in St. John Arena, defeated Ball State 3-1 (16-14, 15-3, 14-16, 15-10) in the first round and Notre Dame 3-2 (15-12, 3-15, 9-15, 15-6, 15-13) in the second round. The Buckeye advanced to the NCAA Central Regional in Lincoln, Neb., where OSU lost in the regional semifinals to eventual NCAA Champion, Nebraska 0-3 (9-15, 6-15, 5-15).
