COLUMBUS, Ohio— The Ohio State rowing team’s first varsity eight entered the Head of The Charles two weeks removed from a first-place finish Oct. 6 at the Head of the Ohio. The Buckeyes finished fourth Sunday in Boston, Mass., out of 54 boats in the championship race with a time of 16 minutes, 30.6 seconds.
Andy Teitelbaum, Ohio States head coach, said his team rowed well but there is still room for improvement.
“They had a good solid outing,” Teitelbaum said. “We have a lot of talent and it showed. Princeton beat us by a pretty good margin and that shows we still have some work to do.”
The U.S. Rowing team won the race with a time of 16:01.6 ahead of second-place Princeton, which finished nine seconds behind.
The Buckeyes improved on their seventh-place finish last year by shaving 36 seconds off their time from a year ago.
Ohio State returns home to serve as host for the Speakmon Ohio Race Oct. 27 on the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes will then wrap up the fall season Nov. 11 as they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the Rivana Romp.
