Men’s Golf Tied for 4th After Two Rounds at Gary Koch Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State men’s golf team is tied for fourth place after two rounds of the 2001 Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla. The final round will be played Tuesday. Ohio State was second after the opening round with a team score of 290. The Buckeyes followed that effort with a 292 in the second round for a total of 582 with 18 holes to play.
Junior Justin Collins (Ironton, Ohio/Ironton) is tied for second place in the individual standings with scores of 68-71=139. He led the tournament after the first round with a 4-under par 68. Senior Jason Oien (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) is 10th with scores of 71-73=144.
Florida, host of the event, was third (292) after the first round but shot a team score of 273 in round two to take a 14-shot lead over No. 2 Kentucky, who led Ohio State (290) by one stroke in round one with a 289.
Florida sophomore Camilo Villegas shot a competitive course record 62 in round two on the Old Memorial Golf Course (par 72, 7,236) to help Florida take over the tournament lead. Villegas came from 12th after the first 18 holes to lead the event (73-62=135) heading into the final round.
