Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Taylor Made Red River Classic – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State men’s golf team finished fifth at the Taylor Made Red River Classic in Dallas, Texas. The Buckeyes shot a 2-under team score of 286 in the final round Tuesday to finish 17-under (847), just three shots out of second place.
The University of Texas, host of the event, won by 10 strokes with a 30-under score of 834.
Four Buckeyes finished below par at the Dallas Athletic Club (par 72, 6,766 yards) course.
Leading the way for Ohio State were seniors Jason Oien (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) and Doug Wade (Lima, Ohio/Lima Central Catholic). Oien shot a final round 68 to complete the event tied for seventh at 7-under 209. Wade, after back-to-back rounds in the 60s, shot 1-over in the final round to finish tied for 10th with a 6-under 210.
Jason Hartwick of Texas was the event medallist at 15-under (65-66-70=201).
The Buckeyes are back in action Oct. 15-16 at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
