Women’s Volleyball Defeats Seton Hall 3-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (15-5, 15-6, 15-4) win over Seton Hall (0-2) in the second round of the Temple Volleyball Classic. OSU’s second victory of the season was also the 400th for head coach Jim Stone during his 19 years at Ohio State. His Buckeye record is now 400-181 and is 450-223 in his 22-year career.
Shelly Draeger (So., Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) scored a match-high 12 kills for Ohio State with Sue Calligaris (So., Palermo, Italy/Liceo Linguistico) adding eight and Dana Stearns (Sr., Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) six. Draeger also collected a match-high 10 digs for the Buckeyes. Seton Hall’s Jackie Neely had a team-high eight kills for the Pirates.
Ohio State hit .180 for the match to .080 for Seton Hall. OSU had a 34-22 advantage in kills and a 44-30 margin in digs. Anne Botica (Jr., Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph) had a match-high three ace serves as OSU seven aces in the match to two for the Pirates. In total blocks Seton Hall had a six to three edge with Pirate Tara Brooks collecting a match-high six blocks on two solo and four assists.
Ohio State concludes play in the Temple Volleyball Classic later today facing host Temple (2-0).
