Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Liberty University in Ameritech Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Behind a match-high 12 kills from Shelly Draeger (So., Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), the Ohio State women’s volleyball team defeated Liberty University 3-0 (15-9, 15-1, 15-2) in the second round of the Ameritech Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. Ohio State (9-0) hit a season-high .455 in the win over the Flames (1-8). Other top scorers for Ohio State included Anne Botica (Jr., Windsor, Ont./St. Joseph) with eight kills and Erin Treadway (Fr., Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade-Julienne) with seven. Rachel Hamack contributed a team-high 11 kills for Liberty. OSU’s Sue Calligaris (So., Palermo, Italy/Liceo Linguistico) and Nikki Cisco (Jr., Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) shared match-high honors for digs with 10 each.
As a team Ohio State hit .455 to .025 for Liberty. OSU had a 48 to 19 advantage in kills, a 39-28 edge in digs and outblocked the Flames nine to two. Liberty controlled the serve with a six to four edge in ace serves.
The Buckeyes continue play in the Invitational at 1 p.m. Saturday against host Western Michigan (4-3) in the final match of the Tournament.
