Two More Awards for Women’s Lacrosse – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio— Miranda James (Charlotte, N.C./C. Milton Wright), who completed her eligibility last season, became the second Ohio State women’s lacrosse player to be invited to play in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association North-South Senior All-Star Game. Celeste Cianfrani (Sr., Telford, Pa./Souderton) was named to the IWLCA Academic Squad.%^$
%^$James was invited to play for the North squad in the annual IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game played June 12 in Baltimore, Md. She was a two-time Mid-Atlantic Regional Second Team All-American for defense. James is the first and only two-time All-America in the history of the Ohio State program. Last season she became the first All-America in the history of the program when she received this same honor. The midfielder finished her career as a Buckeye with 36 goals and nine assists. James has been a mainstay on the defensive end for the Buckeyes the past four seasons.%^$
%^$Cianfrani, a communications major, was among a list of 165 collegiate women’s lacrosse players recognized by the IWLCA for academic excellence. To be nominated for consideration a student-athlete must have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA, be a starter or an important reserve and have junior or senior standing. Cianfrani led the 2000 Buckeyes with 46 total points, 25 goals and 21 assists. She is second all-time in Ohio State history in points and goals with 123 and 81, respectively.%^$
%^$Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Sue Stimmel, the Buckeyes finished the 2000 season with their second-consecutive winning season, 9-7.
