Katie Virtue Named to 2000 Preseason All-Big Ten Women’s Volleyball Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Ohio State sophomore Katie Virtue (St. Charles, Ill./St. Francis) has been selected to the 2000 Preseason All-Big Ten Volleyball Team following a vote by the league’s head coaches this week. Defending NCAA Champion Penn State has been chosen to repeat as the conference champion, while Ohio State has been chosen sixth.
The accolades just continue for Virtue who was named the Big Ten 1999 Freshman of the Year and tabbed to the All-Freshman Team, in addition to being named to the Asics/Volleyball Magazine Freshman All-America Team. Last season, she ranked sixth in the Big Ten in assists per game with a 12.89 average and led the conference in overall matches with 13.30 per game. Her 1,370 career assists ranks sixth in the OSU single-season record book, while her 13.30 assists per game rank fifth.
Ohio State will kick off its 2000 volleyball season Sept. 1 against Colgate in the Temple Volleyball Classic. The home season begins Sept. 9 when the Buckeyes host the Toledo Rockets at 7 p.m.
