Women’s Lacrosse Crushes Duquesne – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Lauren Cochran ( So., Coatesville, Pa.) and Megan Mirick (So., Burke, Va.) both scored four goals to lead the Buckeyes to a 19-3 victory over the Duquesne Dukes Friday at the Jesse Owens Stadium. Ohio State moves to 3-1 on the season, while Duquesne falls to 1-1.
The Dukes scored the first goal, 30 seconds into the contest. The Buckeyes retaliated quickly with a Cochran goal at 21:58. Ohio State continued strong never letting up in the first half, taking a 9-2 lead into the break.
Mirick got the second period off quickly, scoring 2:30 in on a goal assisted by Tracey Bounds (Fr., Ellicott City, Md.). Ohio State scored 10 goals in the second half. The Dukes scored one.
The balanced offense saw seven Buckeyes score.
Buckeye goalie Megan Barnett (So., Charlottesville, Va.) played all 60 minutes and recorded three saves. Duquesne goalie Becky Stauffer played all 60 minutes, recording two saves.
The Buckeyes return to action Sunday, March 19 when they take on Boston in Philadelphia, Penn. The game begins at 1 p.m. Ohio State returns home Thursday, March 23, hosting Notre Dame in a 4 p.m. game. The game will be played at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
