COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s gymnast Jamie Natalie (Hockessin, Del.) has been named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today. It marks the third time this season Natalie has been honored and the fifth-consecutive week an OSU gymnast has received the award.
Natalie placed eighth in the all-around and was the highest-placing collegiate gymnast at the prestigious 2000 Winter Cup Challenge, which included members of the U.S. National Team as well as many other top gymnasts in the country. It was the second-consecutive year Natalie was the highest-finishing collegiate gymnast at the competition. His score of 9.650 on the floor exercise was the top score on that event in the finals.
Natalie currently leads the country in both the all-around and the parallel bars. He is also tied for fourth on the floor exercise and ranks fifth on the still rings.
The No. 1-ranked Buckeyes will host their last home meet of the season when they face No. 6 Brigham Young, No. 7 Iowa and No. 11 Minnesota in St. John Arena Saturday at 7 p.m.
