Rowing Competes in Speakmon Regatta – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State women’s rowing team competed in the Speakmon Regatta sponsored by the Greater Columbus Rowing Association Saturday, Oct. 28, at Griggs Reservoir. Over 54 competitors competed in the race.
The rowing team took four first-place finishes. The first win came in the open novice double event with a time of 19:32.21. The women went on to take seven Top 10 finishes in the women’s open singles race, including the Top 4 by Maxi Meissner (So., Schoenow, Germany/Sportsdiule), Conny Kirsch (Jr., Potsdam, Germany/Helmholtz Gymnasium), Susi Wesenberg (Fr., Rostock, Germany/Gymnasium Grobe Stadtschule) and Sasha Kildelund (Fr., Nyborg, Denmark/Fyns Studenterkursus). In the open novice single, it was Heather Ardnts (So., Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) taking the win with a time of 21:58.62, followed by Meghan McCartney (So., Swanton, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) who placed second in the same event with a time of 22:14.59. The final win came in the women’s open double with a time of 18:04.77.
The women’s rowing team will complete its fall racing season Nov. 12 in Charlottesville, Va., at the Rivanna Romp.
