OSU Crew Wins Head of the Ohio – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State women’s rowing team won the open eight division at the Head of the Ohio in Pittsburgh, Pa., Oct. 7, by 19.5 seconds. After making Buckeye history last year by finishing ninth in the country, returning rowers Connie Kirsch (Jr., Potsdam, Germany/Helmholtz Gymnasium), Katie Buttine (Sr., Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor), Maxi Meissner (So., Schoenow, Germany/Sportsdule), Alex Leslie (East Roseville, Australia/Sydney Girls School), Mindy Stauffer (Jr., Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) and Jill Davis (Sr., Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), joined by new additions Susie Wesenburg, Sasha Kildelund and Ashley Orr. OSU made history again by coming out on top of one of the biggest head races of the fall racing season, finishing the 2.8-mile course in 15:44. Ohio State beat rivals Boston University, Michigan State, Michigan and Virginia along with the other 25 competing crews in the 30 crew event.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes B boat also had a standout finish of 12th in that same event with a time of 16:58 finishing ahead of B boats from Boston University and Michigan State. They also finished ahead of 11 team A boats.%^$
%^$”It’s always great to win an event against great competition,” Andrew Teitelbaum, Ohio State women’s rowing head coach, said. “It was a pretty crazy regatta with the wind and water conditions. I’m glad we handled them well and were able to finish ahead of so many great teams.”%^$
%^$Inclement weather ended the regatta early allowing no other Ohio State boats to compete. The next event for the OSU rowing team is the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass., Saturday, Oct. 22.
